CT Scan

What diagnostic tests are performed in the Computed Tomography (CT) department?

All types of computed tomography scans are performed on the CT scanner at the Mediterraneo First Care Paros Polyclinic, including specialized exams, coronary CT angiograms, and brain perfusion scans.

Basic computed tomography scans

These are computed tomography scans that cover large areas of the body, such as CT scans for the skull, neck, chest, upper and lower abdomen, joints, and extremities. In addition to these, there are CT scans for smaller areas or organs for more detailed imaging, using special techniques or contrast agents, which reveal abnormalities not visible in general scans.

For example, in the skull area, the following procedures are performed: brain CT, pituitary gland, ponto-cerebellar angles, petrous bones, skull base, nasal cavities and sinuses, ocular orbits, visceral skull, parotid glands, temporomandibular joints, etc. Similar exams are also performed in other areas of the body.

Specialized CT scans

  • Angiographies throughout the body, such as CT coronary angiography (with calcium score), aortic angiographies (thoracic and abdominal), renal artery angiographies, iliac artery angiographies, upper and lower extremity artery angiographies, cervical artery angiographies, intracranial vessels, as well as full-body angiography with a CT scanner and venography of the lower abdomen
  • Dynamic computed tomography scans, such as dynamic imaging of the temporomandibular joints with a CT scanner
  • Arthrographies under computed tomography, with intra-articular injection of contrast agent
  • Esophagus or stomach examination – gastrography, with the administration of oral contrast agent
  • CT enterography with the administration of oral contrast agent
  • CT enterography with enteroclysis
  • Virtual colonoscopy with CT colonography.
  • Fistulography, with the injection of contrast agent into the fistula
  • CT pyelography – urography
  • CT urethrography
  • 3D reconstructions of any area requested by the treating physician or required by the examination
  • Computed tomography of the jaws for dental use
  • Volumetric measurement of pulmonary or other nodules

State-of-the-art equipment for accurate and rapid results

The department is equipped with the Philips Brilliance 64-slice spiral CT scanner, featuring the most advanced operating system, which offers significant advantages in medical diagnostics:

  • High Image Resolution: The 64-slice system ensures excellent image resolution, with the ability to capture detailed images of body structures, even in challenging areas such as blood vessels, the brain, and the organs of the chest and the abdomen.

  • Fast Scanning: Thanks to spiral scanning technology, the scanning time is significantly reduced, providing quick results and minimizing the need for multiple scans.

  • Lower Radiation Dose: The innovative technology of the Philips Brilliance CT minimizes patient radiation exposure while ensuring maximum image clarity.

  • Diagnostic Accuracy: The 64-slice technology enables fast and precise imaging of the organs and the detection of even the smallest abnormalities.
